Solar Energy Advantages, Disadvantages; Advantages Come Out Ahead

Being environmentally conscious is just one of the top priorities of the current government administration.  One of the agendas on a long list of eco-friendly and planet saving jobs this current president has spoken about is solar energy and the use of solar panels to harness the sun’s energy in small towns and big cities across America.

There are many solar energy advantages disadvantages a community must consider, however the list of advantages outweigh the disadvantages by a large percentage.

After the initial investment has been recovered, solar energy saves money because the energy from the sun is practically free at that point. Depending on how much electricity a household uses, the payback/recovery period for the solar energy investment could be very short. There are many financial incentives available from the government that may help reduce the initial cost of using solar energy in your home.

Additional advantages include saving your money on your electric bill. Also, there is no fuel involved in solar energy and it is not dependent on the ever fluctuating gas prices. One of the best advantages is that the savings are immediate and last for years  and the use of solar energy indirectly reduces many health costs because it is cleaner than the many chemicals and toxins being spewed into the air by power plants.

Solar energy is environmentally welcoming helping your family remained environmentally conscious because it does not contribute to global warming, smog or acid rain.  Also by not using any fuel, solar energy is not supplying anything to the problems or the costs of the transportation or recovery of fuel for the storage of radioactive waste materials.

Some of the disadvantages of solar energy include the initial cost of installing solar energy equipment, which can be overwhelming to a single family. In order to achieve a good level of efficiency, solar panels require a large area for installation that many homes do not have. Another disadvantage to consider is the location of the sun, which is  what the solar system relies on most, although this problem can be resolved with the installation of other components.

The presence of clouds or air pollution affects the production of solar energy in most cases.  Some of the newer technology such as the solar powered stop sign has overcome this and even works under tree cover.
