Beach Cruisers Are Bicycles with an Old-Fashioned Feel Yet Have A Modern Message to Them

beach cruisersBeach cruisers are bicycles that have an old-fashioned look and feel to them because they were first built by the Schwinn bicycle company during the time of the Great Depression when bicycle sales were declining sharply.  Today beach cruisers are very popular among all ages because of their fat bubble tires which allows them to go anywhere on any terrain. Bicycling to work or to the grocery store is very fashionable and trendy because it’s an environmentally conscious thing to do.

Today, everyone from teenagers to young adults to secretaries, businessmen and stay-at-home moms purchase beach cruiser bicycles to get around town and save hundreds of dollars on gasoline since prices have been creeping up slowly over the past six months after dropping off from last summer when they were at a record all-time high. Back in the days when the Schwinn Bicycle Company first introduced beach cruisers, adults purchased very few of these new bicycles because they were thought of as luxury products intended for sports or recreation in which no one had time for because they were all out looking for work.

Beach cruisers are available in a variety of colors, shapes and sizes to fit every biker’s need and some beach cruiser retailers have a small amount of used beach cruisers on hand from customers who have traded in their beach cruisers to upgrade to newer models complete with wicker bike baskets, rearview mirrors and bike cup holders for those long trips.

Bicycling to work, school and the grocery store or library has suddenly become very popular among the environmentally friendly group of people who want to save the planet, conserve natural gases and save money in addition to perhaps exercising their body, mind and soul.  Countless smaller cities and towns across the nation, usually during the spring, summer and fall months of the year, hold energy-saving contests in which people give up their motor vehicles and use pedal power to ‘get about town’ and help raise awareness for conserving energy while at the same time boosting one’s physical activity.
