Washington DC Dentist uses Computer Programs to Show Devastating Dental Disease

A Washington DC dentist could use several different computer programs in order to teach patients about the effects of tooth decay, gingivitis and other such tooth and mouth related illnesses.

Several different computer programs enhance the progression of gingivitis to show a patient what happens when they do not brush their teeth or floss properly.  Progressive computer programs are a great way to demonstrate various dental practices and diseases to help patients understand the damage they can cause simply by avoiding something that should be done at least once a day but normally twice a day.

Setting up several different computers in the waiting room of a Washington DC cosmetic dentist office, in addition to setting them up inside the procedure rooms, will allow patients to actually see the progression of diseases in actual patients who have avoided brushing their teeth or neglected their dental care.  A dentist could tell a patient of the damages they are causing to their teeth or even show them progressive photographs; however a digital short film on the computer will have a larger impact on the dental patient than still photographs.

A comparison computer program can show a dental patient what happens when they do not floss or brush their teeth and gingivitis sets in and compares that to when someone does not use suntan lotion in the progression of sun damage to one’s skin.

Another way to use a computer program is to offer brushing tips because the number one reason people have bad breath and their teeth do not stay clean is because of their brushing habits.  Many people do not know the correct manner in which to brush their teeth and a demonstration on the computer will help the millions of people who do not know the proper brushing techniques what to do next.  And it’s not just children who do not know how to properly brush their teeth; there are many adults who never grasped the concept of how to properly brush or floss their teeth.

One of the more recent damaging effects to the mouth, teeth and gums is that of chewing tobacco or “chew” which could have devastating effects even leading to mouth cancer, in which part of the mouth, teeth or gums needs to be removed.  A computer program that educates people on the dangers of chewing tobacco will be beneficial even to those people who already know it’s dangerous; however seeing real video of a person who has had on their mouth removed due to cancer has a large impact on people who chew.

Computer programs for a dental office are a good idea to help patients understand how brushing and flossing affects their dental hygiene and could save their lives.
