Android Development Companies Produce new Smart Phone Connection

App developers for AndroidThe new Verizon Wireless network and Motorola merger into the smart phone arena named their creation the Droid and has been noted as a ‘mashup’ of both the iPhone and the Blackberry with the best of both and with some new features thrown in for good measure, by many of the first people who have purchased or used one.

App developers for Android have packed the Droid with several new features, mostly connecting with the Google software.  The Verizon/Motorola Google Android technology filled Droid has the capability for synchronization with multiple e-mail accounts, calendars and contact lists, with messages and appointments from multiple sources combined in a single list as in the PALM Pre’s WebOS.

The Android development companies have loaded the Droid with a music feature that allows an individual to download DRM-free music from Amazon, although currently the only video clips someone is able to view are those from YouTube.

According to an Android app developer, the Android Market is surprisingly well stocked, considering the relatively small number of Android phones in use.  “But quantity is not matched by a variety; many apps are variations on relatively few themes, a lot of them are location-based.  The Android Market – sometimes referred to as the Droid Store – where most of the apps are free, lack iPhones plethora of wacky, yet sometimes wonderful offerings.”

With Apple’s outlet, part of the reason for their success is the marketing support they receive from AT&T, the big carrier with exclusive U.S. iPhone rights. Once Verizon Wireless begins to preload Android Market on their new smart phones and offering their own application and games through their store, the Market’s usage and content will increase.

The Verizon Wireless network has long been disputed to be more reliable than AT&T in many key markets.  Add to that fact the prospect of more features and the Android phones become a viable alternative to the iPhones.  The fact that Verizon Wireless partnered with Google, shows more initiative and less incentive for concessions when it came time to partnering with someone.
