Different Photographers Prefer Different Camera Bags to Hold All Their Camera Gear
Many professional photographers will suggest to amateur and semi pro photographers that they use a digital SLR camera bag because they only need to carry what they will absolutely need for the project they are shooting. There is no need to drag out every lens or camera you own to every shoot you’re going to be attending. If another shot presents itself while you are out, use the lenses you have to make the best of it; you may be surprised at the outcome of the photo with the lenses you have with you. The same goes for the other equipment such as flashes.
For every different type of cameraman or camerawoman, there is a camera bag made specifically for their type of work. There are general occasion family photographers, sports photographers, newspaper and magazine photographers, school picture photographers and wedding photographers.
A sports and newspaper photographer might do best with a backpack style or a sling-bag – over the shoulder - style camera case because they tend to carry more equipment than the average photographer. These photographers use more telescopic lenses, tripods, battery packs and sometimes camcorders to catch all the action on the fields or in front of a crime scene. In addition, a backpack style camera bag will keep the equipment up off the ground and away from falling players where a photographer’s gear could be crushed.
All occasion photographers typically own their own studio in which subjects come to them; however there are occasions in which large groups, families or individuals would prefer to have their photograph taken at a certain location. Then the photographer would have to pack up their camera and other accessories and take them with them on location. A backpack style camera bags or fanny pack style camera bag would work for this type of photography outing.
A large duffel bag with many compartments or a backpack style camera bag would be perfect for a school picture photographer because they need to carry with them different sized lenses, a tripod and sometimes props, depending on the age of the students, in order to get good school photographs.
Each cameraperson is different and might prefer a different type of camera bag depending on the type of photographs they take.
